ABSTRACT Aim: Our aim was to compare the change in the symptom score and histopathologic findings in patients with helicobacter pylori positive non-ulcer dyspepsia, taking different eradication therapy. Material and Methods: A total of 129 patients with helicobacter pylori positive non-ulcer dyspepsia were enrolled in this study and divided into 5 groups, group 1-4 as eradication therapy groups, group 5 as placebo group. Before and after treatment, every patient was asked for symptom score and the biopsies were examined according to Sydney System. Results: The lymphoid follicule and intestinal metaplasia in groups before and after treatment were not different, but symptom score, polimorphonucleer leukocyte infiltration, lymphocyte infiltration and helicobacter pylori colonization were different between all the groups. When we compare the groups, these four parameters were significantly different between group 1, 2, 3 and group 5. We found statistically significant difference according to symptom score, polimorphonucleer leukocyte infiltration and helicobacter pylori colonization, but not for lymphocyte infiltration, between group 4 and 5. There weren’t any difference between therapy groups. Conclusions: These results showed us that the eradication treatment leads to decrease not only symptom severity, but also the effect of factors like polimorphonucleer leukocyte and lymphocyte infiltration and helicobacter pylori colonization.
