BAC K G R O U N D Anter ior cruc i ate lig ament (ACL) inj ur ies are succ e s sfully r ec o n st r u cted arth r o sc op ically esp ec ially in young and act ive pat ients. The main purp ose of these reconstructions are to ach i eve a stable and funct i onal knee joint. Rec e n t l y most freq uently used aut og en ous graft types are mainly bone- patellar tendon- bone and qua dr u ple hamstring tendon. The var i ous adv a nt ages and dis a dv a nt ages and their sup er io r it ies to each other are still deb ated. For this purp ose we have comp ared the gen eral symptom at ol o g y , s t ab ility, propr io c e ption and funct i onal results of ACL reconstruction operat ions that we used these graft types. M ET H O D S Twenty ACL reconstructed patients in two groups with 10 s u bjects each were incl uded in our study. In one g r oup ACL rec o n st r u ct ions were made with bon e - p atellar tendon one and in the other group with quadruple hamstring tendon. Anterior knee pain, thigh atrophy, stability, propr iocept ion, Lysholm and Tegner act iv i t y l evel scores were eval u ated in each group of pat ie n t s . The data obtained from this study were evaluated with W i lc oxon signed ranks test in SPSS 11.0 progr a m . p<0.05 was considered as statistical significance. R E S U LTS There was no statisticaly significant difference between the two groups with respect to anterior knee pain, thigh atrophy, stability, proprioception and Lysholm knee - Tegner activity level scores. CO N C L U S I O N S Reconstruction of the ruptured ACL with bone-patellar t e nd o n - b one or quadr u ple hamstring tendon aut og en ous grafts does not have any sup er io r it ies over each o ther reg a rding funct i onal, clinic stab ility and gen er a l symptomatology at short term.
